Comments on a Very Wet Day

You see, I’m not a fish!
I do not like to swish
As though the dismal day
Upends itself to say,
“Float with the waves or go
Upstream against the flow.”
The world’s all gray and brown
With water falling down;
The river from the sky
Is washing me awry;
And so my mind is made
To just float in the shade;
I plan to slip and slide
Along day’s dripping side,
Just try to stay afloat
Till I don’t need a boat,
Till earth sits up aright,
And day returns to bright
Instead of drenched and dim.
I do not wish to swim!
