Dry Shower Motel

on the road disaster

The worst motel?
(Oh yes, do tell!)
Shower floor grit
'Cause no one used it;
Water didn’t flow
(Trickle, drip, oh no)
So off to bed till the morning…

The worst thing yet?
(More still? You bet!)
Price wasn’t low —
Mid-range, you know?
Pet-friendly room,
Showerless gloom,
Back on the road in the morning...

This poem begged to be written down as an additional comment on the subject of horrifying motel rooms— as rendered poetically . The first version was by Jenny Justice here

and the second was this from Christina Ward 🍁🌲

After reading their encounters, I couldn’t help but remember a particularly uncomfortable night on the road. Oddly enough, none of the lower-priced motels I’ve stayed in were quite so devil-may-care icky as this supposedly pet-friendly room lurking on the first floor of an apparently nice, national-brand motel.
