The Valentine’s Season

I went shopping…

Bright red roses, bright pink hearts,
Chocolate kisses, pastel sweet-tarts,
Strawberries past their date in crisper,
Cards in rows that shout or whisper,
Lingerie to cross his eyes,
Put on a budget bed surprise,
Sheer pink blouses, feminine, frilly,
Red fleece shirts, all sloganed, silly;
Buy your candles, choose your wines;
This is love, it’s Valentine’s;
Every year we lose our hearts,
Search the aisles of supermarts.

I suppose this is the downside of society celebrating love en masse on a given day. All the same, I would wish all of us a day of true love and kindness from the heart!
