What Is the Dawn

What is the dawn?
The fire of the sky arising
From beneath the sea,
Beneath the rock.

Earth's fires smoulder
In the depths, the molten
Crevasses that drip
The dust of eons.

But the sun, far
Far below, yet unencumbered
By the prison bars
Of liquid iron,
