The Song of the Sun

Listen to the sun and how it sings; Hear its pulse at the heart of things, For this is the desert, and in it dwell The wondrous things that do not fear Hell, For Heaven’s portals are just as near; You can almost see the gates from here. And perhaps the hummingbird flies through To paint its…

Haiku for Late Summer

Seasons change softly; sun rises further south now; doves begin to flock. So many moths swarm round and round the yellow light. Flash! A bat flies through. For the rest from this week’s ACM Weekly, see this post: Three Haiku as the Season Changes This week's post is simply three haiku. I have multiple poem fragments I'm working out, but none ready to post yet. But…achristinemyers.substack.com

Furrows and Seed

Only the rain makes furrows here, Summer by summer, year on year, Moves the soil and plants the seed. How very little earth has need Of me here, yet it greets me still Kindly, wonders what place I fill Within its ancient endless run Year by year around the sun. And as it wonders, so do I, Ephemeral as…

A Lullaby

There’s a bow around the moon; Venus shines behind a veil Of a haze that’s high and pale; Night will not be over soon. I am like the clouds that drift All unseen through dead of night, Save where stars or moon are bright And one sees the darkness lift. Here on earth the dark is deep, But the cloud tops keep their gaze Upward where the stars still blaze; In that glory go to sleep. So I slumber, lost between Somber earth and gloried skies, Waiting for the light to rise, Lost in shadows and unseen.

Clouds in the Valley

Dawn’s topsy-turvy above the rain-filled valley: clouds below mountains. Translucent blue clouds above the valley’s vastness the black raven soars Clouds Over the Valley I have just a quick post this morning: the first haiku is looking out over the San Pedro River valley on a rainy…achristinemyers.substack.com

A Sonnet to Yarn

My lifelong friend, I take you in each hand, All warm and gentle, soft like butterflies That dance between my fingers, strand by strand, And onward glide and slide with soft surmise, Slip on and off the needles’ points, your plies Curl up and round to make each mounting row. Whisk through my fingers and delight…
